Check-In, Access & Park Rules
What is the check-in and check-out time?+
Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM. This strict window allows our professional cleaning crew enough time to ensure the cottage is spotless for the next guests.
How do we enter the resort and get our keys?+
Upon arrival at the main gate, provide your last name and specifically state that you are a renter and provide your site address. Once your pre-registration has been confirmed, you will receive a welcome package with resort information and one wristband per registered guest aged 6 and older. If you arrive with more people than what is listed on the registration, you will be denied access. The cottage itself features a secure digital smart lock. We will text you your unique 4-digit entry code 2 hours prior to check-in.
Are resort FunPlex wristbands included in the rental price?+
To comply with Sun Retreats park rules, wristbands are not included in our nightly rate. However, as our registered guests, you can pre-purchase them directly through the resort at the homeowner rate, bypassing the main gate lines on arrival. Wristbands give you access to the water complex, pools, and specific resort activities. Beach access, the quarry, and basketball/tennis courts are 100% free and do not require wristbands.
Golf Cart Rules & Safety
Is the golf cart included, and who can drive it?+
Yes! A custom 4-seater lifted electric golf cart is included complimentary with your stay. By resort policy, all drivers must be at least 21 years of age and hold a valid, unrestricted G-class driver's license.
What happens if the golf cart is misused?+
Sherkston Shores has a zero-tolerance policy for reckless driving or underage operation of golf carts. The resort enforces strict $100 to $500 fines or immediate eviction from the park for violations. Any fines incurred during your stay are the sole responsibility of the renter and will be deducted from the security deposit.

What's included in the Resort fee?+
The $15 + tax resort registration fee covers resort access and your registration wristband for the full duration of your stay. This gives you access to the following:

Recreational Sports and Activities — Included:
- Basketball, pickleball, volleyball and tennis courts

- Washroom and shower stations
- WiFi access in most public areas
- Pet-friendly areas and walking spaces

Extra Amenities Available for Purchase:
The following require separate payment and are not covered by the resort registration fee:
- Pool access wristbands — heated pools, waterslides, and splash pad require a separate wristband purchased at the Welcome Centre. Daily, Mon–Fri, and weekly pass options are available
- Quarry Splash N Go Adventure Park — floating inflatable obstacle course, tickets available at the Quarry in the registration hut
- Kayak, paddleboard, and other watercraft rentals
- Arcade game tokens
- On-site convenience store and supermart
- Firewood, propane, and ice
- Coin-operated laundry facilities
- Restaurants, Getaway Bar and Grill, and food trucks
- Golf cart rentals (if not included in your cottage rental)
- LCBO — beer, wine, and spirits

Important Notes:
- All guests must be registered by your host online no later than 24 hours before arrival
- Confirm all fees and inclusions directly with your host before booking
- The Quarry Splash N Go requires separate admission on top of the standard resort registration fee
- Pool access wristbands are purchased separately at the Welcome Centre
- There is a separate pool area near Quarry Meadows. This is not accessible to renters as it is for owners only
What fees should I expect?+
- Nightly rental rate agreed with your host
- Resort registration fee — $15 + tax per person aged 6 and older, paid by your host in advance
- Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) — collected by your host on behalf of the City of Port Colborne
- Applicable taxes
- Optional: pool access wristbands, Quarry Splash N Go admission, watersport rentals, food and activities
What are the prices for renting canoes, kayaks, SUPs, floating mats or water trykes?+
Weather permitting, water sport rentals (paddle boats, canoes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards (SUP), fishing gear, and water trykes) are available at the Quarry. Fees apply.
Rentals are available from Saturday, June 20 – Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily.

No reservations are needed; just visit the rental station at the Quarry.
Cottage Amenities & Packing List
What do we need to bring with us?+
We provide a fully stocked kitchen (pots, pans, dishes, coffee maker, and basic spices) and a propane BBQ. Guests must bring their own sheets, pillowcases, pillows, comforters, bath towels, and beach towels.
Is there Wi-Fi and air conditioning?+
Yes, the cottage is equipped with unlimited high-speed Wi-Fi perfect for streaming or remote work, and central air conditioning/heating to keep you perfectly comfortable regardless of the weather.
Are pets or smoking allowed?+
To ensure a clean and allergen-free environment for all families, our cottage is strictly smoke-free/vape-free and no pets are permitted anywhere on the property.
Payments, Cancellations & Security
Why should we book directly through this website instead of Airbnb/Vrbo?+
Booking directly eliminates the hefty third-party platform service fees, saving you anywhere from $150 to $400+ per stay on the exact same property.
What is your payment and cancellation policy?+
We require a 50% deposit via credit card or Interac e-Transfer to secure your dates. The remaining 50% balance is due 30 days prior to your arrival. Cancellations made 30+ days before check-in receive a full refund minus a $100 administration fee. Cancellations made within 30 days of arrival are non-refundable unless we can re-book the dates.
Is there a security damage deposit?+
Yes, a refundable $500 security deposit is required. For credit card payments, this is processed as a temporary authorization hold 2 days prior to arrival and released within 5 days of your departure, provided there is no damage to the cottage or golf cart.
Resort Rules & Safety
Are there curfews or noise rules?+
Yes. Quiet hours are 11 PM to 8 AM. No parties or excessive noise at any time. Fines may be applied and deducted from the damage deposit. Visit the Sun Retreats Sherkston Shores website for the full resort rules.
Is there security?+
Yes. Sherkston Shores has on-site security and is also patrolled by Niagara Regional Police and OPP. Valid ID is required at all times.
